St Bartholomews church is built on the site of 'Outlands House' better known as the family home of Robert Falcon Scott RN. Better known as 'Scott of the Antarctic' this is where he lived before setting out on his last fateful journey.
Following extensive damage in the War, the Scott family gave the grounds to the Church to build a new St Bartholomews as part of the regeneration of the area.
Little remains except for a wall, a few trees and a commemorative plaque. Two valuable items from the grounds however, are on exhibition in the Plymouth Museum.
